Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy covers the Box Fan Sleep: White Noise app for iPhone and iPad (the "App") and the website boxfansleep.com (the "Site"). Both are operated by Gökçe Duman, an individual developer based in Istanbul, Türkiye ("we", "us"). Contact: goksdevelops@gmail.com.

Information stored on your device

The App saves your preferences on your device only: sound and timer choices, dark mode, whether Pro is unlocked, and a count of how many times you have opened the App (used to decide when to show Apple's standard rating prompt). We cannot access this information. Deleting the App deletes it.

Purchases

The Pro upgrade is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the App whether Pro is unlocked. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is described in Apple's privacy policy.

Analytics in the App

Versions of the App that include analytics use Google Analytics for Firebase, a service provided by Google. It helps us understand, in aggregate, which features people use so we can improve the App. It collects:

• Usage events, such as starting the fan, choosing a noise type, turning on a nature sound, setting a timer, viewing the Pro screen and unlocking Pro.
• An app instance identifier, a random ID that Google Analytics assigns to each installation of the App so it can count users and sessions.
• Device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language and country.
• Approximate location at the city or country level, which Google derives from your IP address. The App does not use your device's location services.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, microphone audio or precise location. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), we do not link analytics data to your identity, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers. Google processes this data on our behalf under its terms; see Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Analytics on this Site

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits, see which pages are useful, and measure clicks on the App Store download links. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, referring site, device type, browser, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Advertising features are turned off.

If you visit from Europe (detected from your device's time zone), analytics cookies are only used after you choose "Allow analytics". You can also block cookies in your browser settings or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage.

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the App, and we delete support emails when they are no longer needed.

Legal bases (EEA, UK and Türkiye)

Where data protection laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK apply, we process analytics data on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the App and Site, or your consent where consent is required (such as Site analytics cookies for visitors in Europe). We process support emails to respond to your request.

How long data is kept

Google Analytics event data for the App and Site is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically. On-device preferences remain until you delete the App.

International transfers

Google may process analytics data in the United States and other countries. Google provides safeguards for such transfers as described in its terms.

Your rights and choices

• You can ask us to access or delete analytics data associated with your App installation. Because we do not know who you are, please include the approximate date you installed the App and your device model so we can help where possible.
• Deleting the App stops all App analytics from your device and removes on-device data.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.
• California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

The App is rated 4+ and contains no ads, accounts or chat features. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above. If a change materially affects how we use data, we will note it in the App's release notes.
